Privacy Policy

The short version: Civiq is privacy-first by design. No account is required, we don't track your browsing, and we will never sell data that identifies you as an individual. Most of the app works entirely from data cached on your device.
Who we are
Civiq is built and operated by Strategy Complex LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Civiq mobile app and the strategycomplex.dev website. Questions? Email info@strategycomplex.dev.
What the app collects — and what it doesn't
Civiq requires no account, no registration, and no personal profile. We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics trackers, or behavioral telemetry.
- Location. When you look up your representatives, your location (or the address you enter) is used to resolve your districts and return the matching officials. It is not sold or shared in any form that identifies you.
- AI email drafting. If you use AI-assisted drafting, the text you provide is processed to generate the draft. Drafts are yours; we don't build a record of your correspondence.
- Crash and bug reports. Entirely opt-in. If you enable them, we receive technical diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack traces) to fix problems. You can turn this off at any time.
- App integrity checks. To protect our free backend from abuse, requests are verified as coming from a genuine app install via Apple App Attest (iOS) and Play Integrity (Android). These are platform attestation checks, not identity checks.
- Offline cache. Representative data is cached on your device so the app works without connectivity. That cache stays on your device.
What the website collects
If you sign up for launch updates, we collect the email address you provide and use it only to send you Civiq news. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe. The website does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or share data that identifies you as an individual.
- Require an account to access civic information.
- Use cross-site ad trackers or behavioral advertising profiles.
- Present data with partisan spin.
Aggregate insights and future features
To keep Civiq free, we may develop products built on aggregate, anonymized data — for example, insights into which issues constituents in a district care about most, offered to elected officials. We may also add features like opt-in polls that legislators can send to their constituents, with results reported in aggregate.
Two things hold no matter what: any such data is aggregated and anonymized so it cannot be traced back to you, and participation in features like polls is always your choice. If these products launch, this policy will be updated to describe them specifically.
Data retention and your rights
Because we collect so little, there is little to manage: opt-in crash reports are kept only as long as needed to diagnose issues, and you can request deletion of anything tied to you — including your email from the update list — by writing to info@strategycomplex.dev.
Children
Civiq is a civic information tool intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app or on the site.
